By the blessings and grace of Pujya Shri Mota “Hari:Om Satsang Mandal-Ahmedabad was established in May, 1975.The Mandal’s activities began on a Thursday in the month of May, as Thursday is considered to be an auspicious day to start ‘Smaran” or remembering the Sadguru. But since Thursday is a working day for people employed in business or services, and since Saturday is considered as a half-working day, for all male employees, etc. the time for regular prayer was fixed on Saturday evening, i.e. from 7:00 to 8:00PM.The pioneers and founders of this Mandal were eminent leaders like swajan shri Lakshmiprasad C. Amin, Late shri Lakshmanbhai Gandhi (of Vadilal Ice cream), shri Indubhai Sharedalal (shri Indukaka), late shri Harshadbhai S. Shah and Late prof. shri Indukumar Desai. They were all of the view that an organization or basic ‘Mandal’ had to be established in order to conduct regular activities as envisaged by Pujya Shri Mota and to make them known to society in general. It was necessary to do so in order to make Pujya Shri Mota’s social work and general welfare activities popular in society. This Mandal could also collect funds and be thus helpful to the Ashram. They could also arrange to sell books written by Shri Mota and thus propagate his ideas and expand his field of social work, etc.It was thought necessary to be able to offer financial help and to contribute to any charitable activity proposed by Shri Mota. It would also act as a union of Pujya Mota’s ‘Swajan’ or followers, to get them together for ‘Satsang’ and so promote their sense of worship or devotion. It could create among them a feeling of togetherness, (oneness), companionship, co-operation etc. All followers of Pujya Shri Mota may unite and derive some additional benefit. They may also feel themselves to be well connected with Pujya Mota’s ‘Chetna’ (Consciousness), and be touched by it. All such aims could be easily fulfilled only by establishing a union or Mandal. The elderly swajans thought about such issues and then met Pujya Shri Mota. They made a respective submission of their proposal to Shri Mota. Pujya Shri Mota also at once gave his consent and added: “This activity of yours shall work. Old swajan members would leave and new members would join it. This Mandal shall continue to exist.” With such blessings and consent of Pujya Shri Mota, the pioneer swajans were greatly delighted and they firmly decided to establish the Mandal. As an auspicious beginning the Mandal was given its title (name) .It was given the name of “Hari:Om Satsang Mandal-Amadavad”. Then the choice of the place was to be made. Shri Lakshmiprasadbhai agreed to allot a large room in their house no.11, Amin Society for the Mandal’s activity. Late Shri Indukumar Desai was given, after due consideration, the duty of preparing an outline of routine programmes. It was finalized under the guidance and advice of Shri Indukaka. Shri Indukumar Desai helped in giving a suitable form to the verses of Gurustrotra and Stavan(Prayers, Hymns). In those very days late Prof.Shri A.G.Bhatt had composed his eulogy in praise of Shri Mota, entitled “Shri Mota Charane” (‘at the feet of Shri Mota’) of which 27 verses were selected and included in the prayer ‘Shri Mota Charane’. Thereafter it was decided to sing in chorus a favorite bhajan called “Harine bhajata haji koini laj jata nathi jani re” which was liked very much by Shri Mota. Such was a general outline (sequence) of group prayers to be followed. For a few minutes “Hari:Om namsmaran” and “Maun” (silence) were to be observed. It was also decided to give ten minutes to the reading of passages from any of Pujya Mota’s published books. It was to be followed by any swajan’s narration of personal experiences in relation to Pujya Shri Mota. In the end the ‘Aarti’ composed by Pujya Shri Mota was to be recited and performed ritually with lamps lighted (in a metal plate) and distribution of ‘Prasad’ etc. Initially cash collection at the time of ‘Aarti’ was permitted. The money was credited to the ‘Aarti’ fund. Thus the rough draft of “Prarthana”(regular prayers) was prepared and it was duly discussed by late shri Indukumar Desai, shri Lakshmiprasad Amin, shri Indukaka, shri Thakorbhai and shrimati Sushilaben Amin and shri Harshadbhai Shah. They all came to agree about a specifis Raga, etc. for the “Aarti” and prayers etc. and the time for the prayer was also fixed by them. In winter season, from Dashera to Ram Navmi festivals, the prayer time was fixed as from 7:00 to 8:00pm and in the long summer season, from Ram Navmi to Dashera, it was to be from 7:15 to 8:15pm. Activities with a view to encouraging “Gun” and “Bhav” were to be undertaken. Mostly the swajans were notified as to the time and venue of prayer-meetings as fixed above, and the auspicious beginning was made on a Thursday.A “Prarthana-pothi”(Prayer-book) came to be published. It was distributed free of cost to members attending. They were also requested to learn it by heart, for recitation. Members were encouraged to sing it in a specific form, in the beginning the number of swajans attending the prayer-meeting increased as a result of person to person reporting about the establishment of this Hari:Om Satsang Mandal-Amdavad and regular prayers, etc. Members from Maninagar, Narayannagar, Naroda, Naranpura etc. came to attend the prayers regularly. The meeting became better organized and more regular also. This activity became progressive. In the beginning (early days) shri Lakshmiprasad Amin used to serve tea or coffee to members attending prayer-meetings. But since attendance was very likely to rise or fall, it was found more convenient to serve Rasna’sherbet’ (fruit-juice) instead of tea or coffee. The practice lasted for many years, but had to be discontinued on account of inconvenience it caused to members of the household and family, as it was also requested by many swajans. Originally “Prasad” was also provided by the host. But gradually other members joined to share the responsibility. Thus the prayer-meetings came to be duly enriched.Later on, it was decided to hold a continuous ‘Smaran’ for 24 hours along with a “Yagna” to celebrate the birthday of shri Mineshbhai , son of the host, (which fell in the last week of December), as desired by the family members and others. This practice also continued unbroken for as many as 25 years. But gradually afterwards, on account of the host’s illness and physical condition, the 24 hours were reduced to 12 hours only, along with the “Yagna” as before. Following the death of Induben, wife of the host shri Lakshmiprasad Amin, and also on account of other circumstances affecting the family, it was reluctantly and with regrets it was announced that the Dt.25/12/1999 and Dt.26/12/1999 “Nam-smaran” prayers and the “Yagna” were the last to be observed. Shri Lakshmiprasad expressed his own inability caused by ill health and other difficulties to continue with the practice as established, celebrating the festival (Utsav), but also added that he might resume if circumstances proved favourable later on. All the expenses incurred to celebrate the festival were done by the host, willingly so far. This festival took the form of a full 24 hours continuous prayer (Nam smaran) in the last week of December, from 5:00am on Saturday to 5:00am on Sunday following. It was non-stop, so arrangements had to be made for tea or coffee to be served twice a day in the morning and at the noon, as well as two meals to be served as per schedule. On the second day (Sunday) after the “Yagna” ceremony was completed, at the cost of the host, as desired by Pujya Shri Mota, a full meal consisting of Khichadi, Kadhi, Ringan-Bataka shak, papad, salad and chillies had to be served as Prasad. On the day of the “Yagna” (Fire sacrifice) i.e. on Sunday, after completion of nam smaran prayers, the schedule was as under: Rest from 5:00am to 7:00am, Bhajans and prayers from 7:00 to 7:45am, Tea-coffee etc.from 7:45 to 8:00am, “Yagna” from 8:00 to 9:45am, “Aarti” from 9:45 to 10:00am followed by Prasad. But as the number of members attending the festival increased, the “Yagna” was completed at 11:00am and the Prasad was served thereafter. It was a slight change. The “Kund” or holy pit was prepared by swajan sisters themselves. The purohit was shree Indukaka. Shri Jayantibhai Jani, Shri Kanubhai Mehta, Shri Babubhai Rami, Shri Hasmukh Rami, Shri Thakorbhai Amin, Shri Nandubhai, Shri Umedbhai Patel, Shri Amaratbhai Patel (Jr.)etc. also joined in this activity with great sincerity and enthusiasm. They also helped in making preparations for the same and explained the true significance of performing a sacrifice. Swajan members helped in lighting the holy fire (of “Yagna kund”) and in continuing to offer “Jav” and “Tal” grains. For some time now a ready made “Kund for Yagna” is being used. Thus it has become a novel, unique feature of Pujya Shri Mota’s special style and not the routine traditional type, but something entirely original (innovative).A special fund was raised for a regular conducting of the Hari:Om Satsang Mandal’s activities. Some swajans who enjoyed financial stability used to contribute some fixed amount regularly every month, which converted into a fixed deposit with cumulative interest, became a very large amount. Part of its income is now being used to meet expenses incurred during our activities undertaken to encourage “Gun” and “Bhav” as well as in “Mrutyu Sandesh” amounts are added for the benefit of the departed soul from contributions for the special event, from donations by swajans and amount collected at the time of “Yagna” etc.
Now the “Nam smaran” activity has become more dynamic and popular. Other activities of this Mandal have also kept growing in utility and popularity.
We express our gratitude to all the swajan who have been directly or indirectly helpful by means of donations, active presence and moral support, out of love and true affection, and encouraging all the activities of ours. Many have helped us a lot and are still helping. We heartily thank every one of them. We hope and trust by praying to Pujya Shri Mota and expressing our good wishes that the activities of this Mandal get stronger day by day and spread far and wide so that Pujya Shri Mota’s mission of uplifting our society by generous benevolent activities is fulfilled and well accomplished.

In the beginning a 24 hours Namsmaran was being held at Shri Indukaka’s house in “Gurukrupa Guest House”. Gradually other swajans also demanded that the same should be held at other places also. And hence, days had to be allotted specially for the same, in sequence as convenient. After the demise of Pujya Shri, a regular Namsmaran is held at the farm house of Late shri Ramanbhai Amin at Fajalpur from the evening of July 22nd each year.On Gurupurnima day Namsmaran is held at Hari:Om Ashram, Nadiad from 6:00pm of previous day to 5:00 am of Gurupunam continuously. In addition to the above, for the last few months/years in Naranpura area Namsmaran is being held and done regularly on Tuesday nights only from 9:00 to 11:00 pm., at different places. They come to know each other better than before and also cultivate right acquaintances. It helps them also to learn more about Shri Mota and get to know him intensely so that they also feel the touch of Shree Mota’s consciousness and cultivate true feeling of love towards every one else. Such is the aim of celebrating this “Sneh Milan” programme. Special tours by buses for swajans attending Namsmaran at places away from Amadavad are also arranged to encourage this holy activity. Our Mandal expresses its deep sense of gratitude to every one who is directly or indirectly connected with our activities and who contribute their money, time and energy etc. towards fulfilling our aims with all sincerity.
